Lloyd Doggett, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 37th district, recently shared his views on several critical issues via social media. Doggett, who has represented his district since 1995 following a tenure in the Texas Senate, used the platform to scrutinize former President Donald Trump's policies and advocate for legislative measures concerning Ukraine and Social Security.

On April 15, Doggett criticized former President Donald Trump's tariff policies, which he claims are detrimental to small businesses in Austin. He remarked, "Trump promised to bring prices down and claimed that foreign countries would pay his steep tariffs. Instead, by starting a trade war where there will be no winners, he’s pushing small businesses in Austin to the brink. Moreover, his tariffs will cost the average American family".

Later that day, Doggett addressed the conflict in Ukraine, attributing responsibility solely to Russia. He stated, "Despite Trump parroting Kremlin propaganda, Russia bears sole responsibility for the mounting costs of its war in Ukraine. Days after Putin's deadliest attack on Ukrainian civilians this year, together with colleagues, I introduced comprehensive legislation to support Ukrainians".

In another post, Doggett warned against mischaracterizations of Social Security under Trump's policies. He emphasized, "No matter your age, Trump’s assault on Social Security should concern you. For younger workers paying into the program now, don’t be fooled by lies concerning fraud, of which there is almost none. Social Security is not a Ponzi Scheme; it is a hard-earned benefit you pay for and".

Lloyd Doggett, 76, has a long history of public service. He was born in Austin, Texas, and is an alumni of the University of Texas at Austin, where he received both his BA and JD degrees. Doggett continues to reside in Austin.
