Lloyd Doggett, currently serving as a representative of Texas’ 37th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several issues in recent tweets. Doggett has been a political figure since 1995, having previously served in the Texas Senate. His tweets, dating from April 14 and 15, 2025, cover a range of topics including the rule of law, housing prices in Austin, and Social Security.

On April 14, 2025, Doggett highlighted concerns regarding the legal profession's loyalty to justice. He said, "The rule of law through our system of justice offers fundamental protection for our freedoms. As Trump attacks law firms that have represented his opponents or immigrants, too many are placing profits over their commitment to justice." Doggett criticized the prioritization of profit over justice within law firms amid political pressures.

Turning his attention to real estate, on April 15, 2025, Doggett discussed the fluctuation of housing prices in Austin. He noted, "Housing prices in Austin are trending down from a year ago, but may not last long due to Trump tariff tax on imported goods like construction materials." Doggett attributed the possible unsustainable drop in prices to the broader implications of Trump's trade tariffs affecting construction costs.

In another tweet on April 15, 2025, Doggett expressed concerns about Social Security, emphasizing on its promises to contributors. He tweeted, "Americans pay into Social Security every working day of their life with the promise of economic security in retirement and times of disability. Trump is breaking that pact and threatening your hard-earned benefits as he disrupts customer service, closes offices and lays off" He criticized actions that could jeopardize the integrity and accessibility of Social Security services.

Lloyd Doggett, a veteran politician and a University of Texas alumnus with a BA and JD, provides a critique of current political measures and their implications on justice, housing, and social security systems.
