WASHINGTON – On May 31, Congressman Greg Casar (D-Texas) released the following statement ahead of the U.S. House’s vote on the default crisis agreement, H.R. 3746.
“Throughout this manufactured crisis, extremist Republicans have shown their true colors. They don’t care about avoiding default, they only care about their billionaire buddies,” said Greg Casar (D-Texas). “For months, progressives have been united by two goals: First, to stop a catastrophic default, and second, to protect American families’ health care, clean air, and food aid. That’s why some Democrats will vote for the deal to ensure it passes, and some Democrats, like myself, will vote “no” to take a stand against these dangerous Republican attacks on our economy. We are united against slashing programs that help working families to pay for Republicans’ big corporate handouts.”
Casar is a co-sponsor of H.R. 215, the End the Threat of Default Act.
