Joaquin Castro, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas' 20th district, has been vocal on social media regarding the impact of former President Donald Trump's policies. In a series of tweets, Castro addresses concerns about trade wars and funding for cancer research.

On January 27, 2025, Castro criticized Trump's trade policies by stating that "Trump’s trade wars will raise grocery prices in Texas and across the country." He further argued that Trump and his wealthy cabinet members would not be affected by these price increases, implying a lack of concern for the general populace.

Two days later, on January 29, 2025, Castro expressed concern over federal funding issues affecting cancer research. He highlighted the urgency of research advancements for cancer patients by stating that "President Trump’s federal funding freeze may have blocked funding for life-saving cancer research."

In a subsequent tweet posted moments later on the same day, Castro shared his relief over judicial intervention against an executive order he deemed illegal. He stated as a personal note that "As a cancer patient, I’m glad a judge has blocked this illegal executive order."
