On January 23, Castro criticized President Trump’s cabinet appointments. He stated that "President Trump nominated the most unqualified cabinet in American history." Castro accused the president's anti-DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) initiatives of being a diversion meant to divide Americans while wealthy backers gain control over governmental functions.
The following day, January 24, Castro commented on immigration enforcement under Trump's administration. He remarked that "Trump’s immigration raids are already sweeping up U.S. citizens." According to him, these actions are not only dangerous but also unconstitutional and detrimental to the nation's economy.
Later that day, he reiterated his stance on citizenship with a brief statement: "If you’re born in America, you’re an American. Period."
