Lloyd Doggett, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas' 37th district, has recently shared his views on various international and domestic issues through a series of tweets. Doggett, who has been serving in Congress since 1995 after replacing J.J. Pickle, discussed topics ranging from international relations to domestic policy changes.
On January 24, 2025, Doggett expressed his anticipation for ongoing collaboration with Denmark and its representatives. He mentioned Ambassador Jesper Møller Sørensen and Kenneth Høegh in his tweet: "I look forward to continued collaboration with our long-term, valued NATO partner, Denmark, and its representatives Ambassador Jesper Møller Sørensen @DKambUSA and @GreenlandRepDC Kenneth Høegh." The discussion centered around preserving transatlantic relations and Greenland.
The following day, on January 25, 2025, Doggett commented on what he referred to as the "Trump Doctrine." He stated: "We’ve had the Monroe Doctrine, the Truman Doctrine, and more, but the new Trump Doctrine expands on his first-term disfunction—unceasing attacks on our best allies and incredible praise for our adversaries." He criticized former President Trump's approach towards allies without specifying any shortcomings from Denmark.
Later that day, Doggett addressed concerns about tax refunds in light of a new executive order by Trump. He tweeted: "Trump is hellbent on making it harder for Americans to get timely tax refunds this upcoming tax season." In an interview with KXAN News, he elaborated on how Trump's federal agency hiring freeze could hinder the IRS's ability to process tax returns efficiently.
