There were four Pacific Islander students enrolled in the School of Science and Technology District in the 2022-23 school year, 42.9% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that the School of Science and Technology District welcomed 4,315 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Pacific Islander students comprised 0.1% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

The School of Science and Technology District roughly covers schools within Bexar County and has a main office in San Antonio.

Among the seven schools in the School of Science and Technology District, School of Science and Technology Champions recorded the highest enrollment of Pacific Islander students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of two students.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
