Lloyd Doggett, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 37th district, has recently voiced his concerns on various issues through social media. His criticisms, focused primarily on former President Donald Trump's policies and actions, cover topics ranging from tariffs to public health and governmental roles.
On April 11, 2025, Doggett highlighted the impact of tariffs imposed during Trump's administration, commenting on the financial strain these have placed on Texas businesses and families. Doggett criticized Trump’s characterization of tariffs, stating "Texas businesses and families are faced with enormous price increases from Trump’s tariffs while he continues to lie that tariffs are paid by foreign governments." He encouraged those affected to share their experiences.
The same day, Doggett addressed the dismissal of scientists under Trump’s directive, noting the resulting vulnerabilities in public health. He stated, "In the name of so-called efficiency, Trump fired nearly 100 scientists tracking sexually transmitted diseases, antibiotic resistance & other critical public health issues." Doggett expressed concern over weakened public health infrastructure.
On April 12, 2025, Doggett, alongside Representative Greg Casar, called for the removal of Elon Musk from his position as a special government employee. Doggett stated, "Special government employees like Musk are legally allowed in their role for 130 days. By May 30, Musk is required to be dismissed." He asserted the need for Musk to be dismissed due to concerns about access to sensitive data.
Lloyd Doggett is a long-serving congressman, having represented Texas’s 37th District in the U.S. Congress since 1995. He began his political career in the Texas Senate from 1973 to 1985 and has been involved in numerous legislative initiatives since then.
