Known for his strong advocacy, Castro shared a series of tweets addressing the economic impact of the Trump administration’s policies and the present administration's actions regarding federal judgments and immigration matters.

On April 5, Castro remarked on the economic repercussions of the Trump-era tariffs. "The Trump tariffs are already hurting Americans. Prices are going up. Companies are announcing layoffs. The stock market is tanking—making it harder for many seniors to retire when they want. This is hurting everyone and Republicans are helping it happen."

Two days later, on April 7, he criticized the current administration’s disregard for federal judicial orders. Castro stated, "The Administration cannot continue to abuse its power and ignore direct orders from federal judges. Kilmar Abrego Garcia must be brought back home tonight. The world is watching."

On April 8, Castro addressed the potential economic impact on taxpayers, particularly immigrants. He outlined the implications of fear-driven tax avoidance and the paradox that immigrants face concerning tax contributions without equivalent access to social programs. He noted, "First things first: the impact of folks not filing their taxes because they are afraid of deportation would be detrimental to our economy. Two: Immigrants pay taxes but do not benefit from the social programs that most taxpayers do. Three: everyone should be concerned about"
