Joaquin Castro, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas' 20th district, shared his thoughts on various pressing issues through a series of tweets. Castro, who has been serving in Congress since 2013 and previously served in the Texas House of Representatives, expressed his concerns about societal and political developments.

On February 20, 2025, Castro highlighted the tragic story of an eleven-year-old girl named Jocelynn Rojo Carranza from the Dallas area who took her own life after enduring bullying related to her family's immigration status. In his tweet, he criticized former President Donald Trump for fostering "a culture of cruelty and meanness" in American society. "Eleven-year-old Jocelynn Rojo Carranza endured months of bullying about her family's immigration status at her Dallas-area school before she took her own life."

Later that day, Castro commented on the current state of U.S. politics concerning foreign relations. He noted how it was once unimaginable for a U.S. president to echo Russian propaganda about Ukraine and lamented the perceived decline under Trump's influence. "40 years ago, it would have been unthinkable for the president of the United States to repeat Russian propaganda about Ukraine."

In another tweet on February 20, 2025, Castro criticized Texas Governor Greg Abbott's voucher program. He argued that this initiative would harm rural communities by offering no real choice due to the lack of private schools in over 150 rural counties in Texas. He described Abbott's approach as an illusion rather than genuine educational choice. "Greg Abbot’s voucher program will accelerate the death of rural Texas towns."
