The Congressional Hispanic Conference (CHC) has elected Congressman Tony Gonzales from Texas to serve as its Chairman for the 119th Congress. Founded in 2003 by Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart, the CHC focuses on domestic and foreign policy issues impacting the Hispanic community in the United States.
Congressman Gonzales expressed his gratitude towards Diaz-Balart, stating, "Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart founded the Congressional Hispanic Conference 22 years ago and has done a remarkable job building up generations of Hispanic Members of Congress and fighting for our values in Washington. I am thankful for his leadership, and grateful to serve as the Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Conference this Congress."
Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart emphasized the significance of Republican growth among Hispanics, saying, "The growing number of Hispanic and minority Republicans in Congress proves that Americans reject the failed policies of the left – policies that have driven inflation to historic levels, sent gas prices soaring, and created the worst border crisis in our country’s history."
The CHC's Vice Chair positions were filled by Congressman Carlos Giménez as Vice Chair of Community Outreach, Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis as Vice Chair of Policy, Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz as Vice Chair of Communications, and Congressman Juan Ciscomani as Vice Chair of Member Services.
Congressman David Valadao reiterated his commitment to immigration reform and economic opportunities: “This Conference does such important work for the Hispanic community in the Central Valley and beyond.”
Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar highlighted representation achievements: “Hispanics make up the largest minority in the Country, and a record number of Hispanic Republicans represent them in Congress.”
Additionally, Congressman Gabe Evans shared personal reflections on his heritage while looking forward to contributing to lowering inflation and strengthening public safety.
Members of CHC are represented on key congressional committees including House Appropriations Committee, House Committee on Ways and Means, and House Energy and Commerce Committee.
