Lloyd Doggett raises concerns over FAA staffing and Tunisian human rights violations

Lloyd Doggett, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas' 37th district, has been vocal on several pressing issues through his recent social media posts. His concerns span from air traffic control staffing to human rights violations and pharmaceutical pricing.

On December 9, 2024, Doggett highlighted the ongoing understaffing issue of air traffic controllers in Austin. He noted that over a year ago, the FAA Administrator had acknowledged the severity of this problem as "as bad as it gets." "Today, it's worse," he stated, emphasizing that without prioritizing more personnel and tools for the control tower by the FAA, travelers would not have the safety they deserve.

On December 10, 2024, Doggett addressed human rights concerns involving Black migrants in Tunisia. He accused the Tunisian National Guard of committing serious violations against these individuals and called upon Secretary Blinken to uphold democratic principles by suspending taxpayer-funded security assistance to them. "With colleagues, we're urging @SecBlinken to uphold democratic principles & suspend security assistance funded by taxpayers to the Tunisian National Guard," he tweeted.

Later on December 10, Doggett turned his attention to pharmaceutical pricing concerning weight loss drugs. He criticized Big Pharma for making these potentially life-changing treatments unaffordable due to price gouging. Instead of forcing Medicare and Medicaid into offering medications they cannot afford, he urged President Biden to lower prices by authorizing generic competition. "Rather than forcing Medicare and Medicaid to offer meds it can't afford," he tweeted.
