SOUTH SAN ANTONIO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT: South San ISD Board of Trustees Names Lone Finalist

Meeting

South San Antonio Independent School District issued the following announcement.

The South San Antonio ISD Board of Trustees is proud to announce that it has named Dr. Marc Puig lone finalist for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The Board retained the services of the O’Hanlon, Demerath & Castillo law firm for assistance in conducting its superintendent search and worked closely with an education consultant group, Moak, Casey & Associates, to thoroughly and diligently vet all of the applicants it considered.

Dr. Puig comes to South San Antonio ISD from Beeville ISD, where he spent the last four years as superintendent. His honors include being nominated twice for Superintendent of the Year, most recently in 2019. As well, his groundbreaking study on the impact of school governance on student achievement won the Outstanding Dissertation Award from the Texas Council of Professors of Educational Administration.

The Board is excited about Dr. Puig and the experience he brings to the table, his vision for our District, and the circumstances that have brought him to us. State law requires a 21-day waiting period before a lone finalist can be hired for the position.
