Lloyd Doggett, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas' 37th district since 1995, has taken to social media to voice his concerns on various issues. Doggett, who has been active in public service for decades, recently shared his views on the budget cuts affecting medical research funding, policies on transgender rights, and celebrated the achievements of Texas athletic teams.
On March 31, 2025, Lloyd Doggett expressed concern over the financial impact of cuts to medical research funding, attributing these to former President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk. According to Doggett, this decision will result in significant economic and job losses in Travis County. He stated, "Trump/Musk cuts to critical medical research funding is estimated to cost Travis County $43 million in economic and job loss. Republicans approved even more cuts in their government funding bill."
On April 1, 2025, Doggett criticized policies he attributes to Trump that affect transgender individuals, expressing his commitment to equality and legal protections. He said, "In addition to Trump's higher prices and multiple other failures, he denies the existence of trans people with divisive policies of hate. They deserve the freedom to live openly, make their own medical decisions, and protection of our laws." He emphasized his role as a vice chair of the Equality Caucus in advocating for these rights.
Later the same day, Doggett congratulated the Texas Longhorns for their sporting triumph. He tweeted, "Congratulations to @TexasMSD on winning the Men's Swimming and Diving National Championship over the weekend! The pride and winning tradition of Texas Longhorns continues."
