According to Castro, "slashing Medicaid will affect more than low-income families." He further noted that "Medicaid is a lifeline for disabled Americans, senior citizens, children, and pregnant women," indicating that all these groups would be affected by the proposed changes.

Later that day, on March 18, 2025, Castro addressed the escalating violence in Israel and Palestine. He stated his disturbance over the deaths of Palestinian civilians and questioned the efficacy of reigniting conflict as a means to ensure safety or secure hostage release.
