Lloyd Doggett, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas' 37th district, has recently shared his views on various political issues through a series of tweets. Doggett, who has been in office since 1995 after succeeding J.J. Pickle, voiced concerns about actions taken by former President Donald Trump and other governmental entities.
On March 3, 2025, Doggett criticized Trump's approach towards Ukrainian President Zelensky and Russia's cyber activities. He stated that "Ambushing Ukrainian President Zelensky was not the only way Trump waved the white flag of surrender to Putin on Friday." He further expressed concern over the competence of Trump's Defense Secretary regarding Russian cyber threats.
Later that day, Doggett addressed the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), calling it misleading both in name and financial claims. He tweeted that "The Department of Government Efficiency isn’t just an inaccurate name, its savings claims are also wrong." He suggested that DOGE serves as a distraction from fiscal policies he attributes to Republicans.
On March 4, 2025, Doggett highlighted opposition to Trump's criticism of NOAA by over 2,500 scientists concerned about preserving climate research. In his tweet, he noted that "While Trump attacks the agency responsible for tracking the weather and climate crisis (NOAA), over 2,500 scientists are pushing back to demand decades of research aren't upended."
