Lloyd Doggett, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas' 37th district since 1995, has been vocal about his views on former President Donald Trump and other political issues through a series of tweets. Doggett, who was born in Austin, Texas, and holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, shared his opinions on Trump's policies and actions.

On March 5, 2025, Doggett expressed criticism of Donald Trump by stating that "In typical Trump fashion, he resorts to anti-immigrant hysteria to distract from his failures." He accused Trump of falsely claiming to target only violent criminals while allegedly planning to deploy armed immigration personnel into schools, churches, and hospitals.

Later that day, Doggett tweeted about his decision to confront Trump directly during an event. He noted that "While some of my equally outraged colleagues chose not to attend, I chose to confront Trump face-to-face and confront his lies one by one." In contrast to a Republican colleague's past outburst during President Obama's Joint Session speech, Doggett mentioned he opted for raising a sign instead.

In another tweet posted on March 5th, Doggett addressed concerns regarding tax policies involving Trump and Elon Musk. He stated that "In the middle of tax season, Trump and Musk want to make it harder for you to get your IRS refund and easier for rich tax cheats to avoid paying their fair share." He highlighted the issue of wealthy individuals avoiding taxes they owe annually.
