On March 4, 2025, Casar criticized former President Donald Trump's tariff policies. He stated that "Donald Trump’s reckless approach to tariffs will jack up prices on groceries and everyday goods for struggling families." Casar further argued that while smart tariffs can be beneficial, Trump allegedly uses them for personal gain.
In a subsequent tweet on March 5, 2025, Casar made brief but pointed remarks: "Musk steals. Save Medicaid. Protect veterans." This statement reflects his stance on protecting public services and veterans' benefits.
Later the same day, he expanded on these concerns in another tweet. He asserted that during the State of the Union address, "Trump lied to cover up for Musk stealing." Casar accused both figures of attempting to undermine healthcare and veteran support systems for financial gain at the expense of ordinary Americans.
