Joaquin Castro, who represents Texas' 20th district in the U.S. Congress and has served since 2013 after succeeding Charlie Gonzalez, has been vocal on various issues via social media. His recent tweets address significant topics ranging from state legislative matters to cultural tributes and diplomatic concerns. Born in San Antonio in 1974, Castro has a background in both law and political service, having earned degrees from Stanford and Harvard.

On April 16, 2025, Castro expressed his concern regarding legislative decisions in Texas. He urged the Texas House to consider the potential negative impact of a measure on students and to oppose it. Castro stated, "I hope the folks at the Texas House look at the facts, see how harmful it would be to their students, and vote this down."

In a cultural nod, Castro commemorated Selena Quintanilla's birthday on April 17, 2025. Highlighting her lasting impact, he tweeted, "Happy Birthday to Selena Quintanilla! Though her life was tragically cut short, she inspired many with her powerful voice and talent. I was proud to honor her in Congress by helping to get, “Selena,” inducted into the prestigious National Film Registry in 2021. May her legacy in"

Later that day, Castro joined Representative Gregory Meeks in calling for transparency regarding a diplomatic incident. In the tweet, he demanded clarity from the Administration regarding a controversial deal, emphasizing a legal violation and the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Castro wrote, ".@RepGregoryMeeks and I demand to know the details of this deal. The Administration has twisted the law and already made a grave error sending Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a gulag in El Salvador."

Joaquin Castro has represented Texas’s 20th District since 2013. He previously served in the Texas House of Representatives from 2003 to 2013 and graduated from Stanford University and Harvard University with a BA and JD, respectively.
