Lloyd Doggett, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas' 37th district, has taken to social media to express his views on recent political developments. His comments highlight concerns over international relations and domestic economic policies.

On March 5, 2025, Doggett criticized former President Donald Trump and J.D. Vance for their treatment of Ukrainian President Zelensky. In his tweet, he stated that "Trump and Vance disgraced the Oval Office when they berated Ukrainian President Zelensky on behalf of Putin, a war criminal. A deeply shameful day in American history." He further expressed support for Ukraine's efforts to maintain democracy.

Later that day, Doggett addressed Trump's economic policies, specifically focusing on a new tax measure. He noted that "Trump’s speech coincides with his imposition of a new 25% grocery tax on fresh produce and everything else upon which we rely from Mexico and Canada." Doggett criticized this move as contradictory to Trump's promises to lower prices.

In another tweet from the same day, Doggett pointed out the broader implications of Trump's policies on living costs. He asserted that "The lie of Trump’s broken promises will be exposed by the increasing cost of groceries, medications, insurance premiums, rent and more."
