Lloyd Doggett, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 37th district, has recently shared his views on economic and safety issues through social media posts. Known for his political career since replacing J.J. Pickle in 1995, Doggett has voiced concerns regarding recent policies.

In a post dated March 4, 2025, Doggett highlighted the potential impact of tariffs imposed by former President Trump. He stated, "Eat your vegetables, but get them immediately. The price is going up because instead of lowering prices as he promised, Trump imposed a 25% grocery tax with his tariff on every vegetable and all other imports upon which we rely on from Mexico and Canada." This message underscores his apprehension about the rising costs faced by American families due to these tariffs.

On the same day at a later time, Doggett expressed concerns over leadership decisions affecting public safety. He tweeted, "Have you noticed how DOGE is so accident-prone? Just a few mistakes regarding firing public servants responsible for the safety of nuclear weapons, of air travel, and of our health." This tweet reflects his critique of priorities that he perceives as misaligned with taxpayer interests.

Later that evening, Doggett reiterated the financial burden placed on American families by Trump's policies. In another tweet, he remarked that "With Trump’s new tariff/taxes, the average American family will be about $2,000 poorer." He criticized these measures as contributing to further tax breaks for billionaires rather than benefiting ordinary citizens.
