Joaquin Castro, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas' 20th district since 2013, recently shared his perspectives on significant national issues through a series of tweets. Born in San Antonio, Texas, Castro has an educational background from Stanford University and Harvard University. His statements address topics ranging from international aid to domestic education policy.

On February 1, 2025, Joaquin Castro criticized former President Donald Trump's efforts regarding the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). He expressed concern that "Trump’s attempt to destroy USAID undermines one of our most effective tools to build American influence, fight global poverty, and confront countries like China." He questioned whether Republicans would again oppose such measures as they did previously.

Later that day, Castro highlighted the significance of Black History Month amid current political challenges. In his tweet posted at 19:25 UTC, he stated "Today marks the start of Black History Month, a time to celebrate the extraordinary achievements & contributions of Black Americans." He emphasized its importance given what he described as "baseless, dangerous attacks on diversity."

In another post on February 1 at 21:35 UTC, Castro voiced concerns over Trump's intentions towards public education. He warned that "Trump wants to close the Department of Education and defund public schools." According to him, closing USAID could set a precedent that might eventually affect American schools.
