Lloyd Doggett, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas' 37th district, has recently expressed his views on various social and political issues through a series of tweets. These posts address topics ranging from equality for transgender individuals to educational advancements and concerns over federal workforce policies.
On January 31, 2025, Doggett emphasized the importance of rejecting negative stereotypes about transgender individuals, particularly those serving in uniform. He stated, "We must reject the demonization of trans individuals, including those in uniform who put their life on the line to keep us safe. Equality is an American value they are serving to protect."
On February 1, 2025, Doggett attended the inauguration of a new nursing program at St. Edward’s University alongside President Dr. Montserrat Fuentes and other faculty members. He remarked on the timeliness of this initiative by stating, "Great to join St. Edward’s University President Dr. Montserrat Fuentes, faculty, staff and students for the grand opening of their new nursing program... as we are eager to secure more well-trained nurses."
Later that day on February 1st, Doggett commented on the composition of veterans within federal agencies and criticized actions he attributes to former President Trump and Elon Musk regarding workforce reductions in key departments. He noted that "Veterans compose about 1/3 of the entire federal workforce... By hollowing these agencies, Trump/Musk duo aren’t just purging workers; they are..." emphasizing potential impacts on national security and veteran care.
