Congressman Tony Gonzales has introduced H.Res.1485 to honor more than 80,000 American servicemembers who remain missing in action from previous conflicts. The resolution supports designating National POW/MIA Recognition Day on the third Friday of every September annually.

"Today and every day, we continue to honor and remember the brave American servicemembers missing in action and our nation’s prisoners of war," said For Country Caucus Co-Chairs, Congressmen Tony Gonzales (TX-23) and Jason Crow (CO-06). "Their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten."

For Country Caucus Vice Chair Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) and Members Congresswoman Houlahan (PA-06), Congressmen Bacon (NE-02), Carbajal (CA-24), Davis (NC-01), Deluzio (PA-17), Ellzey (TX-06), LaLota (NY-01), Mast (FL-21), Pfluger (TX-11), and Waltz (FL-06) have signed on as cosponsors of H.Res.1485. A total of 37 Members of Congress cosponsored the resolution.

Five organizations have endorsed this resolution, including the Military Officers Association of America, Vietnam Veterans of America, Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A., the National Guard Association of the U.S., and the Enlisted National Guard Association.

The bipartisan For Country Caucus is co-chaired by Congressman Tony Gonzales and Congressman Jason Crow. It provides military veteran members an opportunity to work together across party lines to pass legislation in national security, veterans affairs, and national service. Since its founding in 2019, the caucus has aimed for a less polarized Congress that works for — and is trusted by — Americans.
