There were 670 white students enrolled in Southwest ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 7.7% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Southwest ISD schools welcomed 13,747 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, white students comprised 4.9% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Southwest ISD roughly covers schools within Bexar County and has a main office in San Antonio.

Among the 19 schools in Southwest ISD schools, Southwest High School recorded the highest enrollment of white students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 137 students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
