There were 12,330 Hispanic students enrolled in Southwest ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 2.8% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Southwest ISD schools welcomed 13,747 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Hispanic students comprised 89.7% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Southwest ISD roughly covers schools within Bexar County and has a main office in San Antonio.

Among the 19 schools in Southwest ISD schools, Southwest Legacy High School recorded the highest enrollment of Hispanic students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 1,900 students.

Texas is found to be one of the least-educated states in the U.S. A study from WalletHub ranked Texas 41st out of 50 states in terms of the quality of the educational system and how successful students were.

More than 5.4 million students are enrolled in public schools across Texas. Nearly one million of them live in rural areas where options for local public schools are few and far between.
