There were 94 Asian students enrolled in Edgewood ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 4.4% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Edgewood ISD schools welcomed 8,177 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Asian students comprised 1.1% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Edgewood ISD roughly covers schools within Bexar County and has a main office in San Antonio.

Among the 25 schools in Edgewood ISD schools, L. B. Johnson Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of Asian students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 33 students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
