How many African American students were enrolled in East Central ISD schools in 2021-22 school year?

There were 800 African American students enrolled in East Central ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 2.2% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that East Central ISD schools welcomed 10,006 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 8% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

East Central ISD roughly covers schools within Bexar County and has a main office in San Antonio.

Among the 15 schools in East Central ISD schools, East Central High School recorded the highest enrollment of African American students in the 2021-22 school year, with a total of 270 students.

Texas is found to be one of the least-educated states in the U.S. A study from WalletHub ranked Texas 41st out of 50 states in terms of the quality of the educational system and how successful students were.

More than 5.4 million students are enrolled in public schools across Texas. Nearly one million of them live in rural areas where options for local public schools are few and far between.
