There were 18 American Indian students enrolled in Basis Texas School District in the 2021-22 school year, 14.3% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Basis Texas School District welcomed 3,421 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, American Indian students comprised 0.5% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Basis Texas School District roughly covers schools within Bexar County and has a main office in San Antonio.

Among the seven schools in Basis Texas School District, Basis San Antonio- Shavano Campus recorded the highest enrollment of American Indian students in the 2021-22 school year, with a total of seven students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
