Enrollment Analysis: Hispanic students comprised 69.4% of School of Excellence in Education District's student body in 2021-22 school year

There were 245 Hispanic students enrolled in the School of Excellence in Education District in the 2021-22 school year, 3.4% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that the School of Excellence in Education District welcomed 353 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, Hispanic students comprised 69.4% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

The School of Excellence in Education District roughly covers schools within Bexar County and has a main office in San Antonio.

Among the four schools in the School of Excellence in Education District, Legacy Traditional School - Kelley Elementary recorded the highest enrollment of Hispanic students in the 2021-22 school year, with a total of 131 students.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
