WASHINGTON, D.C. – On September 14, Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) joined a House Resolution to condemn New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham for her “emergency public health order” that prohibits the open and concealed carry of firearms in Albuquerque and its surrounding county, including city sidewalks and parks. Violators of this order may face civil penalties and fines up to $5,000.

“Every law-abiding gun owner should be on high alert following the news out of New Mexico. Governor Lujan Grisham’s recent ‘emergency public health order’ is a direct attack on the Second Amendment,” said Congressman Tony Gonzales. “We can’t allow unhinged politicians to set precedents that infringe on our unalienable rights. This is not a red or blue issue – it’s a red, white, and blue issue and should unite us across partisan lines. Public officials from all levels of government are coming forward to denounce this action for what it is – unconstitutional.”
