Today, Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) announced that the City of San Antonio will receive $6,250,000 in funding from the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) through the Department of Justice (DOJ). This award is administered under the COPS Hiring Program (CHP) and will be used to onboard 50 additional police officers in San Antonio. San Antonio was the only city in Texas to be awarded the maximum amount of funding authorized by the program and is one of only seven cities nationwide funded at this level.
