Lloyd Doggett, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas' 37th district, has recently shared his concerns on social media regarding several policies enacted by former President Donald Trump. Doggett's tweets address issues related to federal grants, dictatorial power grabs, and immigration policy.

On January 28, 2025, Doggett expressed alarm over Trump's decision to freeze federal grants. He stated that this action "threatens families who benefit from medical research, school lunches, childcare, nutrition aid for infants, housing assistance, violence prevention," and more. According to Doggett, the freeze is raising prices and complicating life for many Americans. "The sudden Trump freeze on federal grants threatens families who benefit from medical research..."

Later that day, Doggett commented on Trump's assertions of intending to act as a dictator from his first day in office. Asserting that these actions have extended beyond a single day of "damning power grabs," he vowed to oppose what he views as unconstitutional moves through his roles in the House Budget Committee and Ways and Means Committee. "Trump said he’d be a dictator on Day One..."

In another post made the same evening, Doggett criticized Trump's immigration policy as overly harsh. While acknowledging the necessity of removing convicted criminals from the country, he condemned broader efforts to deport individuals who have long contributed positively to society by working legally and paying taxes. He mentioned collaboration with Rep. Greg Casar in addressing these issues."Thanks for your post. Trump is committed to making cruelty our national immigration policy..."
