There were 7,127 African American students enrolled in Northside ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Northside ISD schools welcomed 102,719 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 6.9% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Northside ISD roughly covers schools within Bexar County and has a main office in San Antonio.

Among the 124 schools in Northside ISD schools, Brennan High School recorded the highest enrollment of African American students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 373 students.

Texas is found to be one of the least-educated states in the U.S. A study from WalletHub ranked Texas 41st out of 50 states in terms of the quality of the educational system and how successful students were.

More than 5.4 million students are enrolled in public schools across Texas. Nearly one million of them live in rural areas where options for local public schools are few and far between.
