There were 135 students enrolled in Por Vida Academy in the 2022-23 school year, 8.9% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.4% of them were boys, and 49.6% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 89.6% of the Por Vida Academy total enrollment.

Por Vida Academy roughly covers schools within Bexar County with its main office in San Antonio.

Among the two schools in Por Vida Academy, Por Vida Academy Charter High School recorded the highest enrollment of 88 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
