SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) now offers access to expanded streaming content available through the Kanopy service. Kanopy’s streaming collection includes over 31,000 titles, from major studio films to classics, documentaries, television series, educational programs and more.
Kanopy is available on a wide variety of platforms, including desktop and laptop computers, mobile devices, smart TVs, and streaming devices. To start using Kanopy, SAPL users can input their library card number on the Kanopy website or in the Kanopy app and create a free account. After this initial sign-up, users will only need their personal login to access streaming video through Kanopy.
Residents without a library card can sign up today at SAPL locations with a photo ID and proof of Bexar County residence. Card sign-up is also available online. Once online registration is complete, new users can immediately access SAPL’s online resources, including Kanopy. Then, simply visit any library location within 90 days with a photo ID and proof of residency to complete registration and receive a library card.
New content is added to Kanopy on a regular basis, and the platform features a wide variety of popular content including recent films like “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” which won Best Picture and seven other awards at the 95th Academy Awards. Kanopy also features curated, seasonal collections of films throughout the year. This month, users can celebrate Noirvember, a month-long film noir festival.
Library cardholders can also enjoy unlimited access to Kanopy Kids, a carefully curated collection of children’s programming that supports early literacy, STEM education, and even foreign language learning. Families will recognize favorite children’s characters from Sesame Street, PBS Kids, Weston Woods, and more.
