There were 5,520 students enrolled in Southside ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 1.3% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 50.1% of them were boys, and 49.9% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 91% of the Southside ISD total enrollment.

Southside ISD roughly covers schools within Bexar County with its main office in San Antonio.

Among the nine schools in Southside ISD, Southside High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,613 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
