Today, Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) hosted a school safety and security roundtable in Washington, D.C. Gonzales, the founder and Co-Chair of the Congressional Bipartisan School Safety and Security Caucus, emphasized the importance of collaboration in improving school security. "During today’s roundtable, we brought together school safety experts, law enforcement leaders, educators, and parents to discuss ways we can implement practices that improve school security," stated Gonzales. He highlighted the need for diverse perspectives in making informed decisions on policies affecting students.

Among the attendees were Uvalde CISD Superintendent Ashley Chohlis and Uvalde Chief of Police Homer Delgado. This event follows a previous roundtable hosted by Gonzales in May 2023 alongside Rep. Jared Moskowitz (FL-23).

Congressman Gonzales has shown support for various school safety legislation, including the National Strategy for School Safety Act, the UNITED ACT, the EAGLES Act, the ALYSSA Act, the Strengthening Our Schools Act, and the ATTAIN on Mental Health Act. These legislative measures aim to enhance school security, mental health resources, and targeted violence prevention programs in schools.

The roundtable discussions facilitated by Gonzales and the Congressional Bipartisan School Safety and Security Caucus reflect a commitment to fostering safer learning environments for students across the United States.
