WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tonight, Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) shared his thoughts following the State of the Union address on March 7, 2024.

In his statement, Rep. Gonzales expressed strong criticism towards President Biden's administration, stating, "Americans everywhere agree on one thing—the State of our Union is far from perfect. President Biden is a lame-duck president, and the American people have given up on him." He highlighted concerns about the border crisis, mentioning that "Dangerous human traffickers and cartels have taken control of our borders," and criticized the administration for not taking responsibility for reversing Trump-era policies that were effective in deterring illegal immigration and other threats.

While President Biden has highlighted the strength of the economy, Rep. Gonzales suggested that many Americans see through these claims. Drawing from his 20 years of service in the U.S. Navy, he emphasized his belief in the country and his hope for a turnaround. He concluded by stating, "I believe in this country, and I have faith that we can turn things around—but the status quo cannot hold. We need change now."

Rep. Tony Gonzales' statement reflects a call for change and a strong stance on the issues facing the nation as outlined in the State of the Union address.
