State Representative Trey Wharton has announced his intention to seek reelection to the Texas House, representing House District 12. This district includes parts of Brazos, as well as Grimes, Madison, Robertson, Walker, and Washington counties.
Wharton highlighted the accomplishments of the recent legislative session: “This session, we focused on real issues impacting Texas families—and we got results,” he stated. He emphasized achievements such as property tax relief and investments in schools, water infrastructure, and border security.
During the 89th Legislative Session, Wharton supported several key initiatives:
– $51 billion in property tax relief for homeowners, seniors, and disabled Texans.
– An $8.5 billion public education package aimed at teacher pay raises, school safety, and classroom funding.
– The creation of a statewide water fund for reliable long-term water infrastructure.
– Over $3 billion allocated for border security with legislation targeting illegal immigration and human trafficking.
– HB 2217: Operation Safe Shield—Wharton’s bill establishing grants for law enforcement vehicle ballistic protection.
Additionally, Wharton backed measures to reduce regulatory burdens on businesses, protect parental rights in education, and strengthen Texas’ energy grid. “We made serious progress,” he said. “I’m running for reelection to keep delivering conservative wins—defending our values, protecting our communities, and securing a stronger future for Texas.”
