Texas House bill by Rep. Garcia mandates study on expanding veteran mental health peer support

Josey Garcia introduced the bill in the Texas House on Wednesday, Jan. 22, during the 89th regular legislative session.

Garcia, a Democrat, was elected to the Texas State House in 2023 to represent the state’s 124th House district, replacing previous state representative Ina Minjarez.

The bill received its final legislative approval on Wednesday, May 21, and was signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott on Friday, June 20.
