Lloyd Doggett, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 37th district since 1995, has recently shared his views on several pressing issues through social media posts. With a background in law and public service dating back to his time in the Texas Senate from 1973 to 1985, Doggett’s comments address international humanitarian concerns, local violence, and national energy policy.

On May 22, 2025, Doggett expressed his disapproval of actions taken by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He stated that “Netanyahu starving innocent civilians of any age, slowly, or quickly, is indefensible.” He emphasized the necessity for food aid shipments not to be obstructed and referenced an updated UN report indicating severe malnutrition cases among children as young as five.

Later that day, Doggett addressed a violent incident involving two Israeli Embassy employees. In a post made at 19:28 UTC, he asserted that “The murder of two young Israeli Embassy employees outside the Capital Jewish Museum should be condemned by all.” He stressed that violence exacerbates division and hinders justice while advocating for change through “courage, compassion, and a shared respect.”

In another post on the same day at 21:07 UTC, Doggett criticized former President Donald Trump’s legislative efforts concerning energy policy. He remarked on “The ugly details of Trump’s ‘big beautiful’ bill – higher electricity costs” and its negative impact on clean energy jobs and climate crisis response. Doggett accused Republicans of denying these issues while highlighting the consequences of reduced clean energy investments.

Lloyd Doggett was born in Austin in 1946 and continues to reside there today. He holds both a BA (1967) and JD (1970) from the University of Texas at Austin.
