Congressman Greg Casar, currently representing Texas’s 35th district in the U.S. Congress, has shared several updates on social media regarding recent political developments and opportunities for young constituents.
On April 17, 2025, Casar drew attention to a significant expenditure proposal by former President Donald Trump. “NEW: Trump wants to spend hundreds of billions of dollars building a ‘golden dome,'” he wrote, adding that more than 180 companies are involved, with Musk’s Space X noted as the ‘frontrunner’ for the contracts. Casar urged to shut down ‘this corrupt deal’ and emphasized the importance of maintaining funding for Medicaid and Social Security rather than redirecting it.
Later that day, Congressman Casar announced intern opportunities for the summer with his teams in San Antonio and Austin. “APPLY NOW: We’re looking for paid interns to join our San Antonio and Austin teams this summer!” He encouraged those interested to review the full descriptions and apply online, indicating his commitment to fostering opportunities for young people within his district.
Finally, in a third message, Casar criticized tax cuts allegedly benefiting billionaires, which he claims would lead to substantial reductions in local aid. “So that Trump and Musk can cut taxes for billionaires,” he stated, “Austin-area families will go without 716,000 meals. Outrageous.” This tweet further emphasizes his stance on prioritizing community welfare over corporate tax benefits.
Greg Casar, a University of Virginia alumnus born in Houston, Texas, has been a vocal advocate for his constituents in Congress since replacing Lloyd Doggett in 2023. His recent social media activity highlights ongoing issues concerning budget allocations and opportunities in his district.
