Great Hearts Texas welcomed 9,970 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 9,970 students enrolled in Great Hearts Texas schools in the 2022-23 school year, 22.5% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52.3% of them were girls, and 47.7% were boys.

The most represented ethnicity among Great Hearts Texas students was Hispanic, accounting for 39.8% of the student population.

Great Hearts Texas roughly covers schools within Bexar County with its main office in San Antonio.

Among the 13 schools in Great Hearts Texas, Great Hearts Northern Oaks recorded the highest enrollment of 1,440 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
