Interim Judson Independent School District (JISD) Superintendent Dr. Milton “Rob” Fields II is a step away from landing the position on a permanent basis.

San Antonio-based media outlets reported that the JISD Board of Trustees named Fields as the lone finalist for its highest office late last month.

San Antonio ABC affiliate KSAT reported that the trustees will hold a final vote on the hiring of Fields on Thursday, May 11.

“It is an honor and a blessing to be given the opportunity to continue my educational journey working with the incredible students, staff and community of Judson ISD,” Fields said, KSAT reported. “I first learned about the deep-rooted tradition of excellence in our district as a student here and I am so proud, as an educator, to have been a part of how it has evolved. I am so grateful and excited to continue giving back to the community that has helped shape me as a leader.”

According to Fields’ biography on the public school district’s website, he’s a graduate of Judson High School.

San Antonio CBS affiliate KENS reported that Fields is an Air Force veteran who possesses over 20 years of experience as an educator, with 16 of them spent in JISD.

The station reported that Fields, who has filled numerous positions within the district, ascended to the superintendent’s office last fall following the abrupt resignation of Dr. Jeanette Ball, who now helms the Southwest Independent School District.

JISD school board president Jennifer Rodriguez told KSAT that Fields emerged from a field of “very talented and exceptional public school leaders.”

“We were so pleased to see that Dr. Fields, both a product of the district and a current leader in the district, rose to the top,” Rodriguez said in the report. “He possessed all the qualities identified on the leadership profile that was made by our community.”

“He has consistently demonstrated tremendous dedication to our students and staff,” Rodriguez continued. “We are confident in his ability to continue to lead with passion, integrity and knowledge as he has shown during his time as the interim.”

JISD is approximately 20 miles northwest of Downtown San Antonio.
