South San Antonio Independent School District issued the following announcement.
South San Antonio High School senior Daniel Robles Villas was recently awarded the Alamo Bowl Community Partners Scholarship in the amount of $7,500 dollars and will be recognized at the 2020 Valero Bowl.
Villas is a section leader for the Bobcat marching band and has also been the president of the mariachi band. He volunteers with the Interact Club and the National Honor Society. Villas wants to attend the University of Texas at Austin to study music education.
He is among many San Antonio area students being awarded a scholarship to be used for the college of their choice. Scholarships were awarded based on academic achievement, teacher recommendations, financial need and involvement in extracurricular activities.
The Valero Alamo Bowl will be played in San Antonio on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 8:00 p.m.
