Rep. Chip Roy Press Office, representing Texas’s 21st District in the U.S. Congress since 2019, shared several legislative updates and policy positions on social media this week.
On July 16, Rep. Roy announced his support for a bill targeting the National Education Association’s congressional charter: “Rep. Roy is proud to cosponsor @RepMarkHarrisNC and @MarshaBlackburn’s bill to strip the NEA, the largest teachers union in the country, of their congressional charter. Let’s get it passed.”
The following day, he reported on House action honoring Jocelyn Nungaray: “The House unanimously passed a resolution to rename a national wildlife refuge in Texas to honor Jocelyn Nungaray. God bless her soul and her family.” (July 17).
Later on July 17, Rep. Roy addressed efforts to reduce federal spending by targeting media and foreign aid programs: “Rep. Roy on defunding NPR, PBS, and USAID: ‘The end of the day, it’s still over $9 billion of significant reductions… USAID spending that has been now very publicly shamed in terms of the kinds of spending, $32,000 for a transgender comic book in Peru, just dozens of examples'”.
Chip Roy succeeded Lamar Smith as representative for Texas’s 21st District in 2019 and resides in Austin. He was born in Bethesda, Maryland in 1972 and earned degrees from the University of Virginia and University of Texas-Austin.
