Rep. Chip Roy Press Office shared several statements on July 17, 2025, highlighting legislative initiatives and criticisms regarding education policy, law enforcement, and media response during natural disasters.
In a post from July 17, 2025, Rep. Roy announced his support for legislation concerning the National Education Association: “Rep. Roy is proud to cosponsor @RepMarkHarrisNC and @MarshaBlackburn’s bill to strip the NEA, the nation’s largest teachers union, of it’s federal charter. Put students first.”
Later that day, Rep. Roy addressed concerns about law enforcement and immigration policy: “Radical progressive Democrats have extended the WAR on police to the brave men and women of ICE. Americans WANT strong interior enforcement and the rule of law to be ENFORCED.”
In another statement posted on July 17, 2025, he criticized media coverage during flooding events in Texas: “Rep. Roy: ‘When the floods were hitting the people that I represent, it took NPR through Texas Public Radio 19 hours to post anything about the flooding on its social media. What was NPR and TPR doing in the interim? They were playing a program, a DC based program, lobbying'”.
Chip Roy currently serves as U.S. Representative for Texas’s 21st district—a position he has held since 2019 after succeeding Lamar Smith. He was born in Bethesda, Maryland in 1972 and resides in Austin. Roy earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in 1994 and obtained his JD from the University of Texas-Austin in 2003.
