Rep. Chip Roy Press Office, representing Texas’s 21st district in the U.S. Congress, used social media on March 13, 2026, to call for a halt to all immigration and raise concerns about alleged abuses of the U.S. immigration system by China.

In a post made at 12:32 UTC, the press office wrote: “How many more times are we going to let this happen? PAUSE all immigration NOW.”

Later that day, at 13:21 UTC, another statement was issued regarding birthright citizenship and China’s role in what is described as “birth tourism.” The tweet read: “This week, Rep. Roy and @RepTiffany are pressing for answers on China exploiting birthright citizenship through immigration. China has weaponized our lax immigration system to commit birth tourism and undermine our sovereignty. It’s high time the federal government close these”.

At 16:38 UTC, a further message quoted Rep. Roy directly: “We must PAUSE immigration now. We must reassert American values on those who come here. We must stop moving people into the line to become citizens without knowing that they’re coming here to assimilate.” @bennyjohnson

Chip Roy has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Lamar Smith and currently represents Texas’s 21st District.[source] In recent elections, he secured victories over Kristin Hook in 2024 with nearly 62% of the vote, Claudia Zapata in 2022 with almost 63%, Wendy Davis in 2020 with just over half of the votes cast, and Joseph Kopser in a closely contested race in 2018.[source] These results reflect his continued support among constituents as he advocates for stricter immigration policies.
