Rep. Chip Roy Press Office, the official account for U.S. Congressman Chip Roy of Texas’ 21st district, posted a series of statements on July 23, 2025, addressing issues related to immigration and international policy.

In a post made at 16:47 UTC, the press office stated: “In early 2025, the foreign-born share hit a RECORD-high in 14 states, while the foreign-born population hit RECORD highs in 31 states. The U.S. needs to END illegal and REDUCE legal immigration that’s sustainable for Americans.”

Later that day at 17:00 UTC, another message referenced an incident involving an undocumented immigrant: “An illegal alien with a history of DRUNK DRIVING has been arrested and charged with HOMICIDE by intoxicated use of a vehicle after KILLING an 18-year-old girl and SEVERELY INJURING her boyfriend in a car crash. Jail first. Deportation next.”

At 17:42 UTC on July 23, the press office addressed recent developments at the United Nations regarding climate change obligations. The tweet read: “The United Nations just ruled that countries could be in VIOLATION of international law if they do not act on CLIMATE CHANGE. Rep. Roy and @BasedMikeLee have introduced the DEFUND Act of 2025, which would TERMINATE US membership from the UN.”

Chip Roy has represented Texas’s 21st District in Congress since replacing Lamar Smith in 2019. He was born in Bethesda, Maryland in 1972 and currently resides in Austin. Roy holds degrees from both the University of Virginia (BS) and University of Texas-Austin (JD).
